Placement of Porcelain Dental Veneers
The placement of porcelain dental veneers typically requires two office visits: one to prepare the teeth, and a second to place the veneers. Dr. Shukovsky begins each visit by administering a local anesthetic. In the first visit, he gently shaves away a small portion of the tooth structure to accommodate the veneer. He then takes a mold of the teeth and mouth, which he sends to the dental laboratory that will custom-craft the veneers. Finally, he places temporary veneers, which the patient wears until the permanent veneers are ready (approximately one week). In the second visit, Dr. Shukovsky removes the temporary veneers and places the permanent ones, bonding them securely to the tooth. He then assures their fit with the surrounding teeth and buffs them to a shine.
