I was driving to the office this morning, the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend, and my thoughts went to the men and women that protect us everyday. Through the course of history these folks have allowed us to have the life we are experiencing today. Democracy is not an absolute and shouldn’t be taken for granted, even though it is easy to do. I was thinking that my fifteen minute commute is the ‘riskiest’ part of my day and how lucky I am. We all owe the folks that protect us, and have protected us, for that safety. Cosmetic Dentistry, Invisalign, Laser Dentistry and Sedation Dentistry all pale in importance to standing in Harm’s Way and risking one’s life to help keep others safe. I feel a deep sense of gratitude to our soldiers.
September 11, 2001. A day that changed the world. Innocent lives lost. Planes grounded. State of emergency. We all were touched, one way or another. Many of the continuing education seminars in dentistry that I had scheduled for that Fall season were canceled. Some of those courses never recovered and could not continue because people were afraid to fly across the country. We seem to not know what we have till we have lost it. Do you remember the days that you could get on a plane without any identification? It wasn’t that long ago.
We are at war. So if you feel safe in your home, at your job, when you travel, take a moment and contemplate those fine men and women that give and have given their lives for you.
Again, thanks for visiting 🙂
